A little woo-woo, a little science and a little soul food to chew on for the week:
We've all heard this term "Abracadabra" right?
It's what we say every time you fill a peanut tank with 3 gallons of gas and watch twenty bucks magically disappear.
Well check out this series of events and take this for a ride this week;
We heard this story (from a friend who's honestly pretty into woo woo stories) that the term "Avrah KaDabra" was an aramaic word meaning “I create as I speak” or “I will create with my words.”
So yeah; "Abracadabra" literally means speaking something into existence.
Sure. so what?
So another friend (who could not be farther from friend A on the woo-woo vs science spectrum speaks up. We assumed to explain why that's not how it works.
Quite the contrary.
Apparently there's a super science thing in our brain called the "Reticular Activating System" or "RAS". Your RAS is the brain’s filter system. It decides what information gets through and what gets ignored. When you speak an intention, your RAS tags it as important.
Example: You decide to buy a red Ducati to be unique—now you see red Duc's everywhere. Sound familiar?
Why this matters: When you say, “I’m going to build a 500 lb deadlift,” or "I'm gonna run a marathon" your brain starts filtering your environment to help you make that true- spotting recovery tools, workouts, people, and habits that align with that spoken goal.
Cognitive Dissonance = Behavior Change
When you say out loud, “I’m the type of person who never skips training,”and then try to skip... your brain experiences dissonance. It wants your actions to match your words.
Result: You’re more likely to act in alignment with what you speak.
It got wilder when she shared a story about a pre-success, struggling actor named Jim Carrey writing himself a $10,000,000 check in the early 90's for "Acting services rendered" and dated it Thanksgiving 1995.
He carried that check in his wallet for years and in 1994, Jim landed his breakout role in “Dumb and Dumber.”
His paycheck for the role? Exactly $10 million.
So if you believe in the woo-woo stuff (we do) - think this week about what you're creating as you speak.
If you don't believe in the woo-woo, be aware of what you're tagging as important in your big brain this week.
If what you say becomes what you believe...
What are you saying about yourself?
What are you saying about how you feel?
What are you saying about where you're going?
What are you saying about how your life's story will be?
Iit was true and everything you spoke became reality, what world would your inner monologue have you living in?
Whether you believe it's real or not - don't you think it's worth shot to at least TRY IT?
You're worth it to us.
ABra-dabra-cadabra,
GFDD CREW
PS- today is a holiday rooted in hope for new beginnings, miracles and unconditional love.If you ask us, seems like a pretty good day to start some new magic. ;)
